Almost Time…

Next week marks the first “Recording Week” of 2010 for me. I will hunker down and tie up a lot of loose ends.

First and foremost I will complete all tracking on my 3rd solo LP “Thief in Your Lungs”. The album is primarily acoustic and has been recorded over the past 4 years in my room with a Mac. The hope is to bring in some outside talent to track trumpet, violin, and maybe some pedal steel in an effort to give the LP a bit more of a dynamic range. Mr. Tavis Wilson, engineer extraordinaire, is on the console mixing and perfecting my mistakes. If you’ve heard “Avalanche” by The Cinderleaf, you are aware of his badassery.

Second on my task list is to track as much as possible for the continually suspended Cemetery Hips LP. We tracked drums and bass for a full length album years ago and it has just been sitting around on a hard drive waiting to be exposed. Myself, Tybor, and Andy are individually responsible for contributing our own parts and then uploading via our file share. If you happen to run into Andy, kick his ass into gear. Ty gets a pardon…but only because he just had his first son a week ago.  The goal once tracking is complete is to have John Dufhilo (Deathray Davies, Apples In Stereo) mix the record. He has a masterful ear for cool 60′s tones and that’s exactly what we’re going for on the Hips LP.

Next, and maybe what I am most excited about, is the team up with Joey and Reese from the band iSOLA to write and create a brand new project/band/experiment. We’ll be spending one full day writing and another recording. The time crunch will dictate the output. We all come from different camps as far as musical influence and have been discussing this collaboration for years.

If by some miracle I happen to complete all of these projects and have any time remaining, I will place some initial focus on designing my next solo album, code named “Skyscraper”. I have 67 demos in place currently and will be sorting through and writing based on LP fit. I hope to start tracking with Tavis later this year and would not be surprised if I attain my goal of releasing a double album.

More on all of this later, stay tuned.

After much debate, pulled teeth, and a twisted arm, I have decided to join the blog universe. Looking forward to posting random nonsenseness. From music and movie reviews to gathering info on your favorite blood type, I am looking forward to hearing your feedback.
